Not idling is one of the many good ways to save gas and be more environmentally friendly, but there are few to keep cool on hot days when, for some important reason, you just have to sit in your vehicle and wait. What is the average Jane and Joe to do to not idle and yet stay cool when there is need to stay cool in a vehicle and opening the windows just isn't enough? How about truckers?

I’m afraid there isn’t much information about this man powered Ferris Wheel somewhere in Southern India. Search after search the only information I found about this green innovation is this video. Still I’ve chosen to share this innovation with you because I find it dangerously fascinating and evident that contrary to popular belief the eco-conscious do like to have fun.

Is it a bat? A plane? It's neither yet. Instead, it's the Army's bat-shaped innovative spy plane concept. The idea is to create a miniature spy plane resembling a bat and its use of echolocation. The spy plane would run off a lithium battery recharged by wind, solar power and even vibrations.

What if plastic wasn't made from oil or natural gas? What if it was made from Bacteria? Would it be safer for the environment? Would it be safer for us? What if the bacteria were genetically engineered Escherichia coli (E. coli)?

It turns out wind power, solar power and lunar power are not the only possible renewable energy sources for our future. Dirt power might be next. There are already plans for use of it in places of Africa that are off-grid.

Today I came across a mattress recycling competition post and I was delighted to see it. Finally someone is doing something to spark more interest in new ways to recycle used beds. Who? Architecture for Humanity and Rubicon National Social Innovations is inviting people to enter the Discarded Dreams Mattress Competition.

Remember typewriters? I barely do. I remember playing with one way back when and even then it was already considered old and useless.

Lovely, as the sounds were that came from pushing buttons and hearing the stop bell ring on an old typewriter, there is no denying that when computers came along typewriters just couldn't compare to computers. Since there was no more need for them typewriters were simply discarded. Fortunately Jeremy Mayer came a long and created a way to rescue some of them from the landfill.

There isn't much too say about this next green innovator, Designer Gerard Brion, except that he is passionate about his artwork. He is very passionate. In fact, with regular household items, some glue and paint Gerard Brion has spent 15 years of his life creating a detailed replica of Paris.

In 2008, solar power seems to be the hot topic for alternative fuel use. Solar powered products are already coming down in price so that the average consumer can take it home and use it, but now scientist are turning to the moon as well as the sun for power. Could the moon fuel our future?
