A German company has manufactured a child friendly inhalation aid (aka spacer) for children called the "Watchhaler®".

Great Summer Products - Hotspotmama recommendations

Ahhh, the lazy days of summer. I am so excited that summer is almost here. My boys are asking me everyday when we can go to the pool. I love summer because you’re not on a strict schedule. Of course, I wonder how I’m going to get my postings done in the summer but it’ll work out. Everything always does. Anyway, let me tell you about a few interesting products I’ve come across that will make summer a little easier and safer. BTW - I try not to pick the products that you see in the big baby stores (unless they are new) because, frankly, you see them when you go to the big baby stores. You don’t need to see them here too.

Father’s Day Gifts - Five Kid's Toys that Dad Would Love for Father’s Day

Is anyone else amazed by the toys that are out there? Sometimes I look at the toys and ask myself, is this really for kids?

When I had my first child, I saw the mini motorized cars for kids. I immediately wanted one. To tell the truth, sometimes my children end up with certain toys because I want it so badly (yes, my sons have a mini motorized fire truck). Is this wrong? I don’t think so. What’s the point of having kids if you can’t relive your childhood a little bit (just more responsibly).

Well, here are some toys that I know daddies all over the world would love to play with. More...

Children Hot Spot Mama Nature Toys

When my kids were younger, they didn't have as many choices for dads (or maybe I was just too darn tired to look on theInternet for them). read more »

Hot Spot Mama diaper bags dads parents baby child

Klick Table and Chair for Kids

The Klick desk and chair set looks more like a piece of art than a place to make a piece of art. When its not in use, this modern desk and chair fits together into a cube. read more »

Art and Design Parenting Products Shopping Toys Childrens Furniture Table and Chair

The company that made the plush animal TVs, Hannspree, has come out with some new stuff worth checking out. Hannspree has a TV for your big kid (yes, I am talking about adults) and your little kid.

I think its safe to say that Hannspree easily makes over 100 TVs. To give you an example of the ones they make, here are a few (some old and some new): read more »

Hot Spot Mama

Night Lights - HotSpotMama Find

Twilight Turtle

When I was growing up, I had the traditional night light. It had one of those tiny bulbs with a plastic cover that only covered the front half of the bulb. I guess that was so a child couldn't touch the bulb directly. Too bad any one year child could pop the cover off. Today, companies appear to have taken night lights to the next level along with everything else out there for kids.

Art and Design Children Gadgets Hot Spot Mama

Best Present for New Parents: Phone and Video Baby Monitor Combo

Back in September, I wrote an article called "Coolest Combo: Phone and Video Baby Monitor - HotSpotMama Find". I really loved this product when I found. I still love it - so much that I decided to repeat myself.

Holidays are coming up fast. This has got to be one of the best presents for new parents. I was walking through two of large baby stores today and came to a realization, this is still a brilliant product There is nothing else out there that's similar. Here's my article from September:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Looking for a great video baby monitor?

When I had my first baby (who is now 5 years old), we bought a video baby monitor. We thought it was the coolest thing that we could watch our child while he was sleeping without him seeing us. The problem was that it was too big and a bit too bright. The screen had to be about four inches wide. So when we went to bed and left the monitor on (yes, like a typical first time mom), it pretty much lit up our entire room. Also, it was a huge eyesore on my dresser. Luckily, you can avoid all that now. read more »

Children Hot Spot Mama Parenting

Ordinary Bear by Day, Light Up Bear by Night

I think the stuffed animals in his bed take up more room than he does. I hate stuffed animals. And with the holiday season around the corner, I know I have to prepare myself for more stuffed animals. Did I mention I hate stuffed animals? But I've got to admit, I wouldn't mind my kids getting this stuffed animal as a present. read more »

toys nighlite babies kids home design gadgets lights furniture children

Roman Arch Kit - A Geometric Wooden Puzzle: Product Review

We went to a children's museum a couple of months ago and it had a roman arch puzzle. If you assembled all the wood pieces together correctly, it could support itself with out any help (like from nails). My kids spent quite a while on it. It was really amazing when it was completed. So when I saw this Roman Arch wooden puzzle available from Edmund Scientific, I thought what a great puzzle for my kids. read more »

Normally, I would say, "Big deal, another cookie cutter. " But it is a big deal because I've never seen a cookie cutter like this. The Dino Puzzle Cookie Cutter is a cut above the rest of the cookie cutters out there because it s also a puzzle. read more »

Ice Cream Flavored Toothpaste

Banilla BlingI took my boys to the dentist on Monday. Before the dentist cleaned each child's teeth, he asked what flavor he liked. My oldest got his teeth cleaned with bubble gum flavored toothpaste. My youngest got his teeth cleaned with marshmallow flavored toothpaste. This experience left me wondering why there weren't more flavored toothpastes being sold. We've seen bubble gum flavored toothpaste at the stores before but never marshmallow.

So, I'm walking out of the dentist office and I stop at the desk to make sure that my insurance information is good when I see tubes of weird looking toothpaste on the check out desk. It looks weird because I've never seen this toothpaste in the stores before. I look closer and pick up the first one; it says it vanilla ice cream flavored.

Looking for a Bike and Stroller Combo - The TrioBike

TrioBike has come up with a three in one carrier bike. Its a regular bicycle, a carrier bike and a stroller.
Imagine taking your two kids for a bike ride in bike that has a stroller that attaches to it. After your done with your bike ride (because its pretty exhausting biking up a hill with two kids), you detach the stroller from the bike and then just push the stroller. Or maybe, you'll drop the kids off with your husband and finish that bike ride by your self, so you detach the stroller and continue biking with just the bike. Pretty cool huh? TrioBike thinks so. read more »

I was never a neat person before I had kids but for some reason now I am obsessed with it. Not that you could tell if you walk in my house. But that's not my fault. I blame my two boys. Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. That's what I do. I can have a room completely clean and they could destroy it in less than 10 minutes. I guess you could say they have a gift.

Does anyone else have a child that just loves arts and crafts? I just can not keep up with my older son’s demand for it. I also can not keep up with the clean up. I have red acrylic paint stuck in the grout of my kitchen floor.

I recently started buying disposible plastic tablecloths (I know its not environmentally friendly) to cover the
read more »

Giant Ice Pack for your Child's Seat - HotSpotMama Find

Seat ChillerWhen its hot and humid and hitting record highs, what's the first thing you think of? Finding something to cool you down. A nice body sized ice pack sounds good.

Well dealing with the heat is much worse when you have young kids with you. On a hot summer day, you know you're going to hear whinning. Especially when you put the kids into a car. Its almost always 10 degrees hotter in the car. It would be great for their car seats to be nice and cool when they get into it. My prayers have been answered by a company called Kooler Kidz.

Inflatable Haunted House as PlayHouse

Inflatable Haunted HouseI love Halloween. Seriously, as a kid, what is better than knocking at someone's door and having someone hand you candy. When my oldest son was two years old, he got the hang of trick-or-treating a little too quickly. At the age of one, my youngest child had more candy from trick-or-treating than I ate the first 20 years of my life (no, he didn't eat all of the candy, he just accumulated it). read more »
I love the decorations too. I came across this inflatable haunted house that looks like a giant playhouse. Its better than all those other inflatables they have out for Halloween because it does more than just sits there looking spooky. You can walk (or run) through it.

Kids Sick? Give them Lollipops - HotSpotMama Find

It finally feels like its fall in the Northeast. I'm seeing leaves fall and kids starting to cough. I thought of this article I wrote back during the summer and thought it was very appropriate right now. Hope it makes your winter a little easier. Here it is. ..

If candy wasn’t so bad for my kids, I would let them consume it 24/7. Nothing seems to quiet a whinning child as quickly and effectively as candy. Now imagine your child sick at home and whinning and having the amazing ability to say, “Hey, I’ve got a great idea, why don’t you have a lollipop?” Your child will look at you with questioning eyes. Is it a trick?

Keyboards for Little People

MiniKeyBoardThese days, I am constantly on the computer and my wrist are killing me. In this day and age, I'm not the only one on the computer. So are both my boys. Both my kids started using the computer when they turned three years old.

If adults have so many problems because they use the computer so much, I can't imagine how difficult and painful it must be for our kids (and anyone who is smaller than the average adult) to use an adult sized computer keyboard. Thank goodness other people are on the same wavelength and have created interesting solutions... many inventors are ahead of me on this one.

Here are a bunch of the keyboards I have found that fit little people hands. read more »

Our guest blogger, Amy Coughenour, is a mom of two girls under the age of 3. She spends most of her time doing "mom" stuff, leading a moms' group, and spends her free time scrapbooking, stamping, or just enjoying a moment to read a book! She loves to keep an eye out for the latest and greatest products for babies and kids -- anything to make a mom's life easier. She found a great product to share with readers of AmericanInventorSpot.com.
Coolest Combo: Phone and Video Baby Monitor - HotSpotMama Find

KX-TGA573SWhen I had my first baby (who is now 5 years old), we bought this great video baby monitor. We thought it was the coolest thing that we could watch our child while he was sleeping without him seeing us. The problem I had was it was pretty big and bright. The screen had to be about four inches. So when we went to bed and left the monitor on (yes, typical first time mom), it pretty much lite up our entire room. Also, it was a huge eye sore on my dresser.

You can avoid all that now. Panasonic has come along with the KX-TGA573S Panasonic 5.8 GHz FHSS GigaRange® Expandable Digital Cordless Camera. It is essentially a video monitor that can be used with a compatable Panasonic color phone handset.
