General Motors has been dropping details and images of the upcoming Cruze for a few months now and has finally provided us with some high-res close-ups of the new fou- door. Overall I have to say I am impressed.

The Cruze was originally set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show coming up at the beginning of October. But what’s the point without some added anticipation? From the images, you can clearly see the front end has been borrowed from big brother Malibu while the rest of the body is more of a unique shape. The lines are smooth but still defined enough to give it a bold look from every angle.
The first models will be seen cruising the streets of Europe in March of 2009 and will be available with 3 different engine options. The base model will come with a 1.6 liter 16 valve inline-4 that makes 112 horsepower. The next step up is a 1.8 liter inline-4 that develops 140 horsepower. The final engine option is the new 2.0 liter turbo diesel that is good for 150 horsepower.

Power touches the ground through either the 5-speed manual transmission, or the more efficient 6-speed automatic. According to earlier reports, fuel mileage can reach as high as 45 miles per gallon depending on the powertrain you choose.
