NYC AUDITIONS

Hi average,

I stopped by at lunchtime to see how things were going and how they plan on making it better then last years A1. My nephew who is a freshman at the Pratt industrial design school here in NYC was planning to audition. I wanted to cheer him on and give him my tips on what to expect because I was semi- finalist on last years show. He wants to become an ID guy from watching how I go about my business of being a product developer.

It was a joke to see them make people wait hours in the down pouring cold rain and treat them like cattle. The only time the camera guys would come out was to find someone who had a story like a deaf women who could respond through an interpreter. I guess it’s the same old crap! I mean no disrespect to the women only to the show.

This is what pissed me off about last years show. I am inventor who puts hard work and $ to make my invention come to fruition. When they changed the rules of the game during the show on having a product ready to roll out to the store and it had to be mass-market appeal. (George Forman grills stuff). We weren’t told a thing about having a sob story.  I spent a lifetime building my pride and I wasn't going to loss it on a "reality show."  When in LA Simon came into to room and said, “We know your inventions so let’s give America something about your life struggle.” I’m sorry, but I enjoy my life! When you walk an office to pitch your product in real life they don’t care if you can see, hear or you’re missing a leg. It’s your invention that matters. Here we have a TV show that matters and they do know their audience demographics and I’m sure they are right on target for hitting the right people at the cost of making people look foolish. Let’s see if their adjustments are made for last years target audience.

My nephew pulled himself from the line after 3 hours because it looked like they were going down the same path of a show on how American TV audiences can push for the struggling man or women and lift them to prosperity. The show did nothing for me. I did it on my own w/o the show. I had to create damage control for my integrity by developing a website. I’m very excited for the Every day Edison who will glorify inventors and their ingenuity.

Would I do the show again, not a chance in hell!

NYC AI Auditions

Joe CasaleI agree with most of your comments, however, we all know this a (un)reality show as it now stands. Just as any inventors perservance and patience is essential, the process for AI will be tough because it is swayed by so many issues that have nothing to do with real American Inventors. I believe it is up to us to stand strong and continue to show up so we can educate both media people and the American audience about what real inventors and inventions are like. I am hopeful this next season will have some entertainment value based on inventors and their inventions, instead of all the peripheral, emotional jardon that was so prevalent in season one. What we do is exciting, innovative and has tremendous entertainment value of its own, let's work together to show that aspect to the audience.I too look forward to Everyday Edisons, they are doing a terrific job with the reality of people, ideas and what it takes to develop a new product invention.
